2009 Excellence Award Recipient - Mike Stanton 2009 Excellence Award Recipient - Mike Stanton Mike Stanton heads the investigative team at The Providence Journal. He was a member of the team that won the 1994 Pulitzer Prize for investigative reporting, for a series exposing court corruption that led to the resignation and criminal conviction of Rhode Island Supreme Court Chief Justice Thomas F. Fay. Since that time, he has been at the forefront of Rhode Island’s numerous instances of public corruption and scandal, providing readers of the Journal with comprehensive, detailed, and fair reporting of the cases making headlines. Stanton has covered, among others, the Roger Williams Hospital/John Celona corruption trial, the Education Partnership’s missing funds, former Governor DiPrete, Operation Dollar Bill, Plunder Dome, organized crime in Rhode Island, the Central Landfill, and the Providence City Hall tax scandal. He is a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and the author of a best-selling book on Buddy Cianci, The Prince of Providence, published in 2003 by Random House. |
